MAJOR IT Upgrade from Aug 15 2017. Disruption is expected.

Reminder: Patients with Extended Hours appointments (before 8am) are reminded to use the rear door in the far corner of the car park - please ring the bell to be let in.

Welcome to The Symons Medical Centre

The William Symons Medical Centre practice was established in 1923 and has occupied its present purpose built premises since 1991. Personal medical services are available to patients within our catchment area. All of our facilities are designed with easy access for disabled patients.

Important: IT System Upgrade

The Symons Medical Centre will be conducting a major IT systems upgrade commencing on 15 August.

Unfortunately significant disruption is expected and patients are asked to order repeat prescriptions and other items prior to 7 August to avoid delays.  We are not undertaking this lightly (our last major systems upgrade was over 15 years ago) and we are changing to the most widely used GP Surgery software in England.

Consequently, once things settle down it will be easier to deliver better care with better links to out-of-hours and other local services.  Practice patients will have an enhanced offering particularly in terms of online access and functionality.  Your patience is appreciated whilst the Surgery gets to grips with the significant changes.

Please note that patients who are currently registered with existing online service will have to re-register, although the sign-up service will be steamlined. We apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused.

The Symons Medical Centre CQC Inspection Report

The CQC has inspected the practice and has rated it as GOOD in all areas.  We would like to thank patients who took the time to speak to the inspectors.  The full report can be accessed HERE
